The Life and Teachings of Madhvacharya

‘The Life and Teachings of Madhvacharya’ written by Swami B.G. Narasiṅgha, was first published in Clarion Call magazine (Vol.2, issue 1) in 1989. This article is a summary of the life of Śrī Madhvācārya, the South Indian Vaiṣṇava saint and founder of the philosophical school of Dvaitavāda. This article was later included in the book, ‘Evolution of Theism’.

Instructing the Guru

This article “Instructing the Guru” was written in April 2018 by Śrīla Narasingha Mahārāja who answers a question concerning a previous article wherein a Vaiṣṇavī writes a letter to her dīkṣā-guru and explains to him about the importance of śikṣā. In response, a question was raised by a devotee about the etiquette of a disciple instructing her guru.

His Last Instructions

“His Last Instructions” is an article adapted from a lecture given by Śrīla B.G. Narasiṅgha Mahārāja on the disappearance day of Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura, on December 15th, 2000. Mahārāja quotes Bengali verses composed by Śrīla Bhakti Pramoda Purī Gosvāmī that delineate the last instructions of Sarasvatī Ṭhākura. These verses can be found in the book, ‘Of Love and Separation.’

Hearing From a Rāsikācārya

“Hearing From a Rāsikācārya” was written in August 2000 by Śrīla Narasiṅgha Mahārāja. In this important article, Mahārāja explains how the previous ācāryas have warned immature sādhakas not to stray into ‘dangerous waters’ by gate-crashing into the higher līlās of Rādhā-Govinda. He also stresses the importance of anartha-nivṛtti and nāma-saṅkīrtana.

Guru-pādāśraya

“Guru-pādāśraya” was written by Śrīla Narasiṅgha Mahārāja in 2018 in response to questions from a devotee regarding guru-tattva. He deals with the absolute and relative statements of the guru, guru-niṣṭhā, and losing faith in the dīkṣā-guru.
