“Around His neck Gaura wears a garland of various forest flowers and His face appears brighter than millions and millions of moons.”

“Brahmā and other demigods stand in front with folded hands and the thousand-headed Ananta-śeṣa holds a jewel-bedecked umbrella over His head.”

“Śiva, Śukadeva and Nārada consider that nothing greater than this can be found within the pages of the Vedas, thus they become absorbed in ecstasy.”

“Her dear maidservants assist Her in arranging Her dress. Gaurī (Rādhā of a golden complexion) sits upon a jeweled throne.”

“Each of Her beautiful limbs is illuminated and bedecked by shining ornaments of jewels and pearls.”

“The gopīs of Vraja anoint Her body with fragrant sandalwood pulp. The face of the daughter of Mahārāja Vṛṣabhānu’s shines splendidly.”

“Her girlfriends blissfully clap their hands on all sides. Rādhā’s dear friend Lalitā-devī performs the ārati.”

 “The young married girls of Vraja sing auspicious songs while the intimate friends of Rādhā fan Her with cāmaras.”

“The face of Nanda Mahārāja’s darling son is more beautiful and splendid than millions and millions of moons and suns.”

“His ankle bells jingle on His lotus feet and on a garland of forest flowers swings on His chest.”

“Kṛṣṇa wears a charming crown of peacock feathers and a yellow dhoti and He plays a wonderful song on His flute.”

“How beautifully His earrings move upon His shiny cheeks! Thus we observe Śrī Madana-Gopāla.”

“The demigods, humans and sages perform the ārati ceremony to the protector and maintainer of the devotees.”

“All glories to the crest jewel of cowherd boys, who has a musk tilaka-mark on His forehead, a Kaustubha jewel on His chest, a graceful pearl on the tip of His nose, a flute in His hand, a bracelet on His wrist, graceful sandal paste on all His limbs, and a necklace of pearls on His neck, and who is surrounded by a host of gopīs.”

phullendīvara-kāntim indu-vadanaṁ barhāvataṁsa-priyaṁ
śrīvatsāṅkam-udāra-kaustubha-dharaṁ pītāmbaraṁ sundaram
gopīnāṁ nayanotpalārcita-tanuṁ go-gopa-saṅghāvātaṁ
govindaṁ kala-veṇu-vādana-paraṁ divyāṅga-bhūṣaṁ bhaje

“I worship Govinda, whose complexion is the color of a blooming blue lotus flower, whose face is like the moon, who is fond of wearing a peacock feather crown, who bears the mark of Śrīvatsa, who wears a great Kaustubha gem, who is dressed in yellow garments, whose handsome form is worshiped with offerings of the lotus flowers that are the gopīs’ glances, who is accompanied by a host of surabhi cows and gopas, who is fond of sweetly playing the flute, and whose transcendental body is decorated with glittering ornaments.”

adau rāma-tapovanādi gamanaṁ hatvā-mṛgaṁ-kañcanaṁ
vaidehī-haranaṁ jaṭāyu-maraṇaṁ sugrīva-sambhāṣanam
vāliḥ-nirdalanaṁ samudra-taraṇaṁ laṅkāpurī-dāhanam
paścāt rāvaṇa-kumbhakarṇaṁ-hananaṁ-etaddhi rāmāyaṇaṁ

“First Rāma was exiled and went to the forest where he killed the golden deer. Sītā-devī was then kidnapped, Jaṭāyu was killed and an accord was made with Sugrīva. Vāli was vanquished, the ocean was crossed and the kingdom of Laṅkā was consumed by fire. Finally, Rāvaṇa and Kumbhakaraṇa were destroyed. This is the gist of Rāmāyaṇa.”

adau devakī deva garbha-jananaṁ gopī gṛhe-vardhanaṁ
māyā pūtana jīva tāpa haranaṁ govardhanaṁ dhāranam
kaṁsa-chedanaṁ kauravādi-hananaṁ kuntī-sutān pālanam
etat bhāgavataṁ purāṇa kathitaṁ śrī kṛṣṇa līlāmṛtam

“First the Lord appeared from the womb of Devakī and brought happiness to the homes of the cowherd ladies. He then took the life of the witch Pūtana and lifted Govardhana Hill. He killed Kaṁsa, destroyed the Kauravas and protected the sons of Kuntī. These are the nectarean pastimes of Śrī Kṛṣṇa narrated in the Bhāgavata Purāṇa.”

O Kṛṣṇa, O Lord of mercy, O Lord of the Raghu Dynasty, O Lord of Sītā-devī, O Lord of Śrī-devī, O Lord of Vaikuṇṭha, O Lord of all sentient and non-sentient beings, O Lord of Lakṣmī – please protect me.”

ājānu lambhita bhujau kanakāva-dātau
saṅkīrtanaika-pitarau kamalāya-tākṣau
viśvambharau dvijavarau yuga-dharma-pālau
vande jagat-priya-karau  karuṇāvatārau

“I worship Gaura and Nityānanda, whose long arms extend down to Their knees, whose beautiful complexions are radiant like molten gold and whose elongated eyes are like red lotuses. They are the topmost brāhmaṇas, the guardians of religious principles for this age, the most munificent benefactors of all living beings and he most compassionate incarnations of Godhead. They initiated the congregational chanting of the Holy Names of Lord Kṛṣṇa.”

namas trikāla-satyāya jagannātha-sutāya ca
sa bhṛtyāya sa putrāya sa kalatrāya te namaḥ

“Oh Lord, You are the eternal truth – past, present and future – and You have appeared as the son of Jagannātha Miśra. I offer my repeated obeisances to You along with Your inseparable servants, Your sons and Your consorts.”

śāntakāraṁ bhujaga-śayanaṁ padmanābhaṁ sureśaṁ
viśvādhāraṁ gagana-sadṛśaṁ megha-varṇaṁ śubhāṅgam
lakṣmī-kāntaṁ kamala-nayanaṁ yogibhir dhyāna-gamyaṁ
vande viṣṇuṁ bhava-bhaya-haraṁ sarva-lokaikanātham

“I offer my obeisances to Lord Viṣṇu, the sole master of the universe, whose presence is extremely peaceful, who reclines upon a serpent, whose navel is like a lotus flower, who is the worshippable Lord of the demigods, who is the support of all the worlds, who is subtle and all-pervading like the sky, whose complexion is like that of a cloud, whose form is very beautiful, who is the Lord of Lakṣmī, whose eyes are like lotuses, who is mediated upon like yogīs and who eradicates the fear of repeated birth and death.”

“You are my mother, You are my father, You are my relative, You are my friend. You are knowledge, you are wealth, You are all things. You are my Lord of lords.”

“Whoever takes shelter of you has his wishes fulfilled. Bestowing your mercy on him, you make him a resident of Vṛndāvana.”

nayane heriba sadā yugala-rūpa-rāśi

“My desire is that you will also give me a residence in the pleasure groves of Śrī Vṛndāvana-dhāma. Thus within my vision I will always behold the beautiful pastimes of Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa.”

“I beg you to make me a follower of the cowherd damsels of Vraja. Please give me the privilege of devotional service and make me your own maidservant.”

 “This person is hell bound and helpless, and my mind is totally evil. I do not even have a drop of piety.”

O new moon who has arisen from the ocean of King Vṛṣabhānu! O friend of Lalitā! O You who make Viśākhā loyal to You due to Your wonderful qualities of friendliness, kindness, and faithfulness to Kṛṣṇa.”

 “Oh My dear Śrī Rūpa Gosvāmī Prabhu!”

gaurāṅga-cāndera bhāva, pracāra kariya saba,
jānāite hena āra nāi

“The way that you have presented the mood of Śrī Gauāṅga-cānda is beyond all comparison!”

(2)
vṛndāvana nitya-dhāma, sarvopari anupāma,
sarva avatārī nandasūta

 “In the eternal abode of Vṛndāvana, which is the greatest of all, resides the original source of all avatāras, the son of Mahārāja Nanda”.

tānra kānta-gāṇa-dhikā, sarvārādhyā śrī rādhikā,
tanra sakhī gana saṅga jūta

“There He sports with innumerable gopīs, of whom Śrī Rādhikā is the most illustrious and who is worshiped by all.”

 rāga mārge tāhā pāite, jāhāra karunā haite,
bhujilo pāilo jete janā

 “By your mercy you made the path of rāga available to all, by which one can attain the topmost love for Kṛṣṇa like that of the gopīs.”

emona dayālu bhāi, kothāo dekhiye nāi,
tānra pāda koraho bhāvanā

 “O brothers! Nowhere else will you find such compassion. Thus, please meditate upon his lotus feet!”

śrī caitanya ājñā pāiyā, bhāgavata vicāriyā,
 yata bhakti siddhānter khani

“By the order of Śrī Caitanya, he explained the meaning of the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam and presented a mine of devotional conclusions.”

tāhā uthāiya kata, nija grantha kari yata,
jive dilā prema cintāmaṇi

“From this mine, he uncovered many books that can give the wish-fulfilling jewel of prema to all living beings.”

rādhā-kṛṣṇa rasa keli, nātya gīta padāvali,
sudhā parakiyā-mata kori

“During their intimate pastimes, Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa dance, sing and offer poems to one other, becoming absorbed in pure feelings of parakiyā-rasa.”

caitanyera mano vṛti, sthāpana karilā kṣiti,
āsvādiyā tāhāra mādhurī

 “Having relished thatd sweetness, according to the inner desire of Śrī Caitanya, you have manifest this to the world.

(10)
caitanya virahe śeṣa, pāi atiśya kleśa,
tāte jata pralāpa vilāpa

 “Due to intense separation from Śrī Caitanya and in great distress, I lament and speak incoherently.”

 se saba kahite bhāi, dehe prāna rahe nai,
 e rādhā-vallabha hiye tāpa

 “O brothers! When I try to speak about all these things, I feel as though my life-breath is about to leave me! Such is the sorrow of this Rādhā Vallabha Dāsa.”

śrī jīva gosāi mora, prema ratna sagara
ohe prabhu kṛpā kara more

“My Jīva Gosvāmī is an ocean full of the gems of kṛṣṇa-prema. O master, please give me your mercy.”

mui ta pāmara jane, baḍa sādha kari mane
tuyā guṇa gāibāra tare

“I am most wretched, yet I desire to sing your glories. By doing so, I will be out of Māyā’s clutches.”

śrī rūpa śrī sanātana, anupama sumadhyama
rāma-pade dṛdha yāṅre mati

“Anupama was the younger brother of Śrī Rūpa and Śrī Sanātana and was very devoted to the lotus feet of Śrī Rāma.”

tāṅhara tanaya jīva, sarva śāstre su-paṇḍita
prakāśila śrī rūpa saṁhati

“You are his son, Śrī Jīva, a great scholar who knows all the scriptures. You have revealed the deep meaning of the works of Śrī Rūpa Gosvāmī.”

vairāgya janmila mane, rājya chāḍi sei kṣaṇe
calilā śrī navadvīpa-purī

“With your mind full of renunciation, you immediately left everything and traveled to the town of Navadvīpa.”

prabhu nityānanda dekhi, chala chala kare aṅkhi
paḍila caraṇa-yuge dhari

“Upon seeing Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu, you fell at His lotus feet and wept.”

mastake caraṇa diyā, dui bāhu pasāriyā
uṭhaiyā karilena kole

“Nityānanda put His lotus feet upon your head, then lifting you up He embraced you.”

preme gada gada haiya, dainya bhāva prakāśiyā
kāṅdite kāṅdite kichu bale

“Overwhelmed with prema, your body shook and displayed other symptoms of divine ecstasy. In this way you spoke as follows –

prabhu nityānanda nāma, jagatera paritrāṇa
saba jīve ānanda karila

“The name of Nityānanda can liberate the whole universe and give ecstasy to all living entities.

mo hena patita jane, kṛpā kaila nija guṇe
brahmāra durlabha dhana dilā

“You have given Your mercy and Your own divine qualities to this fallen person. Such compassion is so rare that even Brahmā cannot attain it.”

mahāprabhu tomāra gaṇe, diyāchena datta bhūme
śīghra tumi yāha vṛndāvana

“Nityānanda replied, ‘Mahāprabhu has given a special land to your kinsfolk. You should immediately go to the land of Vṛndāvana.’”

śrī mukhera ājñā pāiyā, ānanda haiyā hiyā
vraja-pure karilā gamana

“Overjoyed by hearing this instruction from the holy lips of Nityānanda, you traveled to the land of Vraja.”

kṛṣṇa-nāma sadā mukhe, netra-jala bahe buke
ei-rūpe pathe cali yāya

“As you walked, the Holy Name of Kṛṣṇa was always on your tongue and you wept profusely.”

prabhu rūpa sanātana, kare pāba darśana
prāṇa mora rakha mahāśaya

“You continuously cried out, ‘Rūpa! Sanātana! When will I be able to see you? Let me live until then.’”

kabhu karu jala pāna, kabhu cānā carvaṇa
kata-dine mathurā pāilā

 “Some days you only drank water or ate a few chickpeas. Finally after some time you arrived in Mathurā.”

dekhi śobhā madhu-purī, preme paḍi ghuri ghuri
dhīre dhīre viśrānti āilā

 “You lovingly gazed upon the city of Mathurā and slowly walked to Viśrama Ghaṭa.”

yamunāte kaila snāna, kari kichu jala pāna
sei rātre tāṅhā kaila vāsa

 “You took bath in the Yamunā, drank some of the water and at night you slept on her bank.”

 (17)
prāte āilā vṛndāvane, dekhi rūpa sanātane
prabhu saba purāila āśa

 “The next morning you went to Vṛndāvana. Upon seeing Rūpa and Sanātana all your desires were fulfilled”.

śrī gopāla-campū nāma, grantha kaila anupāma
vraja-nitya-līlā-rasa pura

“You wrote the book called Śrī Gopāla Campū, which describes the pure and eternal pastimes of Vraja.”

 (19)
ṣaṭ-sandarbha ādi kari, yāhāte siddhānta bhari
paḍi śuni bhakta haila sura

 “The Ṣaṭ-sandarbhas and other books that you have written explain fully the Gauḍīya siddhānta. Those that read or hear these books will become devotees of the Lord.”

 (20)
ujjvala premera tanu, rase niramilā janu
bhāva alaṅkṛta saba aṅga

“Your body exhibits the symptoms of ujjvala-prema (the highest type of ecstasy in love of Kṛṣṇa) and is fully sweet and pure.  Your limbs are always adorned with the symptoms of bhāva.”

paḍite śrī-bhāgavate, dhairaya nā dhare citte
sāttvike vyāpita saba aṅga

“When you read the Bhāgavata your body exhibits sāttvika-bhāva and your mind cannot maintain its composure.”

 (22)
yugala bhajana sāra, vilāsai sadā yāṅra
vṛndāvana-vihāra-sadāi

 “You eternally serve the Divine Couple during Their sweet pastimes within the forest of Vṛndāvana.”

 (23)
goloka sampuṭa kari, tāhāte se prema dhari
samvaraṇa karila gosāi

“O Gosāi, you always meditate upon the treasure of Goloka and the loving pastimes of the Lord.”

 (24)
mui ati mūḍamati, tomā vinu nāhi gati
śrī jīva jīvana prāṇa-dhana

 “O Śrī Jīva, this fool cannot survive without your shelter. That is the only thing that maintains my life.”

 (25)
bahu janma punya kari, durlabha janama dhari
pāiyāchi śrī-jīva caraṇa

After many births of pious activities, I have attained this rare birth in which I have finally attained the lotus feet of Śrī Jīva.”

 (26)
śrī-jīva karuṇā-sindhu, sparśi tāra eka bindu
prema-ratna pābāra lāgiyā

 “Simply by touching one drop from Śrī Jīva’s ocean of mercy, I have obtained the jewel of prema.”

kahe raghunātha dāsa, tuyā anugata āśa
rākha more pada chāyā diyā

 “Raghunātha Dāsa says, ‘My only desire is to become your follower. Please protect me and give me the shade of your lotus feet.’”
