Inform Your Parents About Your Future Plans (03/13/07)

Dear Ś______ Dāsa,
Hare Kṛṣṇa.

I read your email and I am very happy about your determination. It is good to meet your parents and tell them clearly that you are going to join the āśrama and make your career as a devotee and preacher of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Your parents will not understand and they will probably be upset, but the Vaiṣṇavas and even your ancestors who lived in India a long time ago will be very happy with your decision.

You should inform your parents also that you will only marry if and when you are requested to do so by your guru and you will not accept any marriage that your parents arrange. In this way your parents will clearly understand your mind and determination to be a pure devotee of Lord Kṛṣṇa.

As for your job, we shall only take the final decision when to give up the job after sitting and discussing with N___and ____ Mahārāja about what will be your full time service and training program as a preacher.

So for the time being, you should continue your job, but go ahead and have the clear discussion with your parents and inform them about your future plans.

Hoping this meets you well.

With Affection,
Swami B.G. Narasiṅgha
