Mountains of Contaminated Devotion Cannot Satisfy Kṛṣṇa. (08/20/01)

Dear P____ Dāsa,

Hare Kṛṣṇa. Please accept my humble blessings.

I am very happy to receive you humble Vyāsa-pūjā offering. It is very nice to see that you are becoming a mature/Kṛṣṇa conscious householder. I remember always that you once told that as a householder that you did not want to be of the type that just shows up at the temple with a bowl of fruit. I know that you want to be a serious devotee, but we should also remember that if we can even offer a bowl of fruit to Kṛṣṇa, that we are extremely fortunate.

Pure devotional service to Kṛṣṇa is very rare. It must be free from the desires for liberation and for sense gratification. Mountains of devotion that is contaminated by material desire cannot satisfy Kṛṣṇa. But even a little service rendered purely – with only the desire to satisfy Kṛṣṇa and His dearmost devotees gives the Lord great satisfaction.

I pray that Kṛṣṇa and our Guardians will bless you and give you all success in this life and the next.

I hope this meets you well.

Affectionately,

Swami B.G. Narasiṅgha
