No Risk No Gain (05/07/08)

Dear V_____ Prabhu,
All glories to Śrī Guru and Gaurāṅga.

You mentioned on the phone something about the N_____s getting a building and you were thinking about trying to do something to avert that, etc. Well, my actual opinion is that I do not think that Śrīla Śrīdhara Mahārāja would want you to get involved in that way. Let them get their building and in future they will fight and even kill each other over it. At any rate, I do not think that Śrīla Śrīdhara Mahārāja would want you to get involved in trying to stop their getting that building.

But your getting involved in preaching the positive conception, publishing, and getting responsibly involved with others who are preaching and serving the proper conception would be especially pleasing to Śrīla Śrīdhara Mahārāja.

Only one thing that I have to say negative in your situation is this – you have come twice in the last two years to India, our āśrama etc and really done a lot of talking and unloading your grief etc. But my question to you is — when are you going to do something to help us and to bring some positive effect in the world and not just sit idle watching N___ take people to hell and denigrate the name of Śrīla Śrīdhara Mahārāja and Sarasvatī Ṭhākura?

The N___ people are successful because they get fully into what they believe. They put everything behind it; time, money, everything. They have the wrong conception, but still they do everything and anything to promote their guru and his cause.

We, on the other hand, have Śrīla Śrīdhara Mahārāja and the proper conception of Sarasvatī Ṭhākura, but we do little or nothing in the way of getting behind their message. We selfishly spend our time and hoard our money or even worse, waste our money when we should be doing something positive.

Remember the motto “no risk, no gain”? If we want to see the conception of Śrīla Śrīdhara Mahārāja spread widely and his glories become established for the world to see, then we will have to band together and DO SOMETHING. Otherwise we must be consigned to defeat and simply standby and watch the misconception rule the day.

I for one cannot accept that, and so I am trying my best with a small group of devotees. Your support and your participation in our endeavors would be warmly welcomed.

Just remember this – when the day comes and you are about to breathe your last, you don’t want to be lying there thinking, “Why didn’t I do something!”

Hoping this meets you well.

Śrī Rupanuga-dasanudasa,
Swami BG Narasingha
