Work, Work, Work! (08/02/13)

These are not matters for talking on Skype. I want to discuss the spiritual succession of our mission between you and _____ and I want to discuss various aspects of our mission, the preaching, and how to go forward.

When you left _____ you were, in your own words, “in pretty bad shape.” I never saw you look so down. You planned to go to Puri for Ratha-Yātrā to get a recharge, but you canceled in preference of ‘service’ that had to be done in _____. This is an example of what I was talking about…work, work, work, business, business, business. To hell with the business! You should have gone to Ratha Yātrā!

You went preaching for a few days in Santa Barbara and then off to India…business, business, business, with only one or two days to spend at the āśrama. In a nutshell, this cannot be the pattern of activity for a future ācārya. We need to discuss how you can be more free to travel and preach and not have to be so involved in the day to day.

Unfortunately, at _____ (although loved by everyone), you have gotten yourself the reputation of a ‘task master’ and not as a loving senior godbrother or guardian. Some of the devotees are indeed apprehensive about your return because they fear that it will be the same old ‘task master’ as before. So on this issue we need to sit down and talk before you return to _______.

Looking forward to seeing you in India.
