Forewarned is Foretold (11/09/03)

Dear G____ Prabhu,
Hare Kṛṣṇa. All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda.

I thought to mention it previously (but I did not), but now that you have mentioned X_ Mahārāja, I think I should inform you that I have no attraction toward the camp of X___ Mahārāja.

We have diametrically opposite conceptions regarding many issues that abound with the followers of X__ Mahārāja and we are to say in the least ‘outspoken’ about such issues. It is also a fact that X___ Mahārāja’s followers are strongly warned not to associate with me or my disciples (I don’t blame them).

If you have affection and attraction for X___ Mahārāja and his followers then I fear that you will not have a good experience here at our āśrama. I thought that this issue should be upfront between us so that you and Mother S__ do not waste your time and energy. As they say, “forewarned is foretold”.

If you choose to come to our āśrama then I am open to discussion on the above (if you so desire) and I will certainly respect you as an individual as I have always done. But in our āśrama you are going to hear some things of quite a different nature as regards the perfection of bhajana life and the goal of Kṛṣṇa consciousness and how to achieve it.

I will be happy to share the śikṣā and realisations that we have received from Śrīla Prabhupāda, Śrīla Śrīdhara Mahārāja, and Śrīla Purī Mahārāja with you, but again this will not be in line with the current trend of hari-kathā that you are presently being exposed to.

In short, we are the followers of Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura who’s internal life is fully expressed in the śloka, pūjala rāga-patha gaurava bhaṅge. Our position is to always keep ourselves a little distant and below the highest domain. We are servants of the dust of the lotus feet of Śrī Rūpa and Śrī Raghunātha. We are not the enjoyers of rasa and high devotional talks do not look good in the mouth of those who have not over come anarthas.

Looking forward to hearing from you again soon and to any discussions that we might have on the above.

I will be in Srirangam for a couple of days for darśana and filming and then we are returning to our āśrama at Govindajī Gardens.

I hope this meets you well.

Respectfully,
Śrī Hari-jana-kiṅkara
Swami B.G. Narasiṅgha
