Mind Your Own Business – Surrender! (07-24-04)

Dear Mother Y_____ and D_____Dāsī,
Hare Kṛṣṇa.

So now D___ and I request you to please explain to us why you say that “R______ Swami is not in harmony with the proper concept of Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇavism as preached by our Guardians.” At least that for a start.

It is not nice of me to have to say something negative about a godbrother and especially about someone as respected as H.H. R______ Swami, whom I know you hold with great respect.

In a brief email I first informed K____ that she should put her questions to her guru and not to me, because he and I are not in harmony on many things. Simply put, he is iskcon party line and I am not. But she did not let go and she wrote back asking for more of an explanation, so I had to say something.

R______ Swami and I are just two different types of people who are under different Guardians, and I know that if K____ where to hear more from me after accepting R_______ Swami as her guru that she would eventually be filled with opposing views and this would eventually lead to trouble for her.

There is a possibility that I may visit B_____ this October, but by the time these emails are over it might be better for me just to cancel my trip to Śaraṇāgati and mind my own business.

That was one of Śrīla Śrīdhara Mahārāja’s favorite sayings, “Mind your own business -‹ surrender!”

I hope this meets you well.

Affectionately,
Swami B.G. Narasingha
