Where did Sarasvatī Ṭhākura get his mantras from? (03/26/14)

Dear _______ Prabhu,

Yes, its been a long time.

As for this _____, it wouldn’t matter what I would say he would still want more ‘proof’. So let him rot in his own faithless consciousness. I know this ______ and he doesn’t have faith in Mahāprabhu or Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa. He prefers the wine of ritual rather than the nectar of prema-bhakti. Not to mention he is blind to see who are the Lord’s pure representatives. Thus he has no chance to serve their lotus feet. He is an embarrassment to Śrīla Prabhupāda. This ________ would be better off eating his rice with the brāhmaṇas in Śrī Raṅgam, rather than biting like an insect at the Gauḍīyas. The raw fact is, he has real devotion for neither Gauḍīyas or Śrī Vaiṣṇavas.

But for your benefit, I will tell you that Srila Śrīdhara Mahārāja on this point said that Sarasvatī Ṭhākura received all his mantras from Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura and Gaura Kiśora Dāsa Bābājī. What he didn’t receive from them, he brought down himself from the spiritual world.

Sometimes devotees overly concern themselves with looking for an unbroken physical line (paramparā), but such does not exist anywhere. The gap in the Śrī Sampradāya is 4000 years between Nammāḷvar and Rāmānuja. Where did Rāmānuja get his mantras? Better yet, where did the Śrīs get the extensive Tamil Veda (known as the writings of the Āḷvārs)? They got them in a dream or a vision thru descending grace. Sarasvatī Ṭhākura is no less than any Āḷvāra, or even any of the Six Gosvāmīs. But how would ______ understand that? Envy is his guru and money is his iṣṭa-deva.

Hope this meets you well.

Swami Narasingha
