Monsters and Axes! (07/09/10)

Thanks for the email. YES, I saw the news item. The ‘giant fish’ was found in Peru. Very interesting. There were indeed many ‘monsters’ prowling the oceans in prehistoric times. Several of these monsters are mentioned in Bhāgavatam, but uniquely the dinosaurs are not mentioned in Bhāgavata – only sea monsters are mentioned. However, a few months ago archaeologists found a massive amount of fossil dinosaurs in Gujarat.
I’ve always been interested in such things and lately while digging on our āśrama land in Mexico I found a Paleolithic hand-axe which could be as old as 500,000 years. I have sent pictures of the axe to several anthropology professors and we are in discussions as to the age of the axe and its implications on the theory of when humans first came to Mesoamerica.
