Garbhadhana Saskāra (05/05/19)

Dear _______,

Śrī Śrī Guru Gaurāṅga jayate.

I have been very busy the past four days and did not see your email until this morning.

My field of service is to guide devotees in the proper conception of the Absolute Truth. Although I do have other fields of interest in preaching such as ancient history, archeology and so on, I do not know anything about what you have asked.

Generally speaking Śrīla Prabhupāda was not very concerned about such issues because when a devotee or devotees chant the Holy Name purely and are engaged fully in devotional service to Kṛṣṇa and the sakīrtana movement, then everything they do is auspicious and thus there is no need to perform all the regulations regarding time and place.

Once I was sitting with Śrīla Prabhupāda on the roof at Māyāpura, and his secretary was handing his mail to him. A temple president in a letter was asking Prabhupāda about a question concerning that devotee’s family life. Śrīla Prabhupāda seemed displease by the question and replied, “It is not the duty of the spiritual master to arrange your sex life.” Thus no answer was given to the devotee asking the question.

On another occasion Śrīla B.P. Purī Mahārāja was asked a question about householders begetting children. When asked the question Śrīla Purī Mahārāja drew a disgusting look on his face and said, “Bābā, I am a sannyāsī and I do not know about these things. You should go ask a ghastha.”

Hope to have been some help to you and your friend.

Vaiṣṇava-sevaite,

Swami Narasiṅgha
