The Goal of Family Life Should Be Vaiṣṇava Sevā (03/14/07)

Dear R_____ Dāsa,
Hare Kṛṣṇa.

I am very happy to have received your email and to have the misunderstandings cleared up. We live in the “communication age” but unfortunately miscommunication, or the lack of communication, is often the cause of disturbance among the Vaiṣṇavas. So try to be more communicative in the future and devotees will not misunderstand your intentions. A more substantial service engagement will also help you greatly in this connection. The goal of life is not about collecting material things for comfortable living. The goal of life is about service to the Vaiṣṇavas. In the end, there is only death and all material things and relations vanish in a painful moment. But the Vaiṣṇavas never vanish and they will be there to welcome us back to Godhead. So make that the goal of your family life — vaiṣṇava-sevā.

Also please give our humble blessings to your good wife and congratulations on her decision to become more serious about spiritual life.

I am returning to India tomorrow and I hope to see you again soon at our next program or at Govindajī Gardens.

Hoping this meets you well.

With Affection,
Swami B.G. Narasiṅgha
