If We Are Shouting and Blaming Others, How Can We Get Kṛṣṇa’s Mercy? (04/26/01)

Dear S____ and A_____,

Hare Kṛṣṇa.

I write this email with all concern for your well-being. There have been troubled times among the devotees since I have come to the USA. There are troubled feelings on both sides and everyone heart has been pained.

But there should not be anymore of this fighting with words back and forth. Everyone should stay in their place and be peaceful. If there is some time, then everything will cool down – this is not the end of the world.

Since the situation is so intense, I humbly request you to please stay at home and be peaceful. When I return to Bangalore after sometime, we can sit and talk the things that need to be discussed. But in the meantime, if there is simply more fighting then the situation will become worse and I may not be able to adjust the problem ever.

So again, I humbly say to you that the best thing for you and your family will be to stay at home and peacefully chant kṛṣṇa-nāma and take prasadām. You should not to go to the āśrama or to our Bangalore centre until I return to India. Otherwise, there may be further fighting among devotees and this gives me great heart pain. Try in this time to get your worldly life organised and come out of your debt.

If you are shouting and the other devotees are also shouting, then how anyone can expect the mercy of Kṛṣṇa? In Kṛṣṇa consciousness we do not try to blame others for whatever problems have fallen on our head. You must follow this path. It may not be easy but there is no alternative to approaching the truth.

I am especially sad when I hear that very harsh words of bad quality are being used by the devotees. Please be the master of your mind and of your words, and never speak a bad word about another Vaiṣṇava, or to another Vaiṣṇava. This is my direct instruction to you and your family. If you follow this instruction then you will see that the clouds of darkness will begin to rise and you will once again find (Kṛṣṇa) peace and happiness in your life.

I hope this meets you well.

With Affection,

Swami B.G. Narasiṅgha
